A dominant 44-12 Blues victory in Perth was highlighted by Matt Burton's outstanding Origin debut.

Burton was decisive; he scored the first try of the game for the Blues and won a vital one-on-one battle with Dane Gagai, which set up Nathan Cleary's game-winning try.

However, what really amazed spectators was his repeated use of gravity-defying explosives, some of which flew so high they were outside the Optus Stadium lights (see the huge torpedo in the video at the top of the page).

That concludes the matter; the winner will be decided in a few weeks. The Blues ultimately put on a commanding display.

Jarome Luai later remarked, "We arrived with the mentality of win or die tonight.

"I'm proud of the boys because they gave an 80-minute performance and helped us beat the Queenslanders.

"The youngsters came in and ripped in every day [during training]. We must maintain that mindset in each camp. Just one more game.
